Wind turbines have emergency exits, but they might not be for the reason you think. • Thanks to Octopus Energy: octopus.energy/octopus-fan-club/ (This video isn't sponsored, but obviously they did let me go up their wind turbine.)

  • I couldn't find a way to fit this into the video, but rather wonderfully, this turbine is called Octopus Energy's "#1 Fan". Thanks to all the team there, and the rope access team at EWT. This wasn't sponsored, and Octopus had no control over the final video, but obviously they did let me go up their conveniently-branded wind turbine in an effort to boost their brand. (If any other companies would like to show me around their conveniently-branded spectacular facilities, they should definitely get in touch...!)

  • For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) There is nothing more important then getting right with the Creator, Jesus Christ. Those that refuse to come before him and repent with godly sorrow for sinning against him will stand before him in judgment and be cast into the lake of fire. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:27) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)

  • I understand the wind is blowing strong enough to power wind turbines virtually anywhere as long as the base is 150 meters up. That's 3x higher than this turbine. Also at that height they on average can produce 20 times the power that one produces. Not 3x the power. Unfortunately these mega structures need an Elon Musk to push them through.

  • There were a bunch of motors inside once you got to the top, presumably they let the turbine pivot to face whichever direction the wind is coming from? I never thought about if they turn before.

  • You'll feel better to know the breaking strength of a 1/2 inch Blue Water rope is 7,500 - 10,000 lbs and you had two of those attached to you - By all accounts the rope will break you long before you'll break it (which is also why its so important to manage a falls distance on ropes) after folks hear how insanely strong their equipment is, its actually easier to relax a bit and trust in it.

  • As a fellow rope tech, I've scrutinized this video and can confirm that the techs are professional and nothing is out of the place. If that sounds like petty behaviour, then maybe consider that scrutinizing your team members is a vital part of the general safety culture needed for this type of work. I personally do echo his statement: "Personally this is safer than any other job that you can do." Well, maybe not all other jobs, but a hell of a lot of them, like driving a bus for instance. As a bit of a side note: Watching this, my girlfriend told me: "I can never do that." to which I said: "IKR! I also hate screw-gate karabiners!!"
